302: Life Partners: How We Pick Them & How To Live With Them
January 22, 2008 6:30 - 8:30 p.m.
In this talk, Rod Kochtitzky, M. Div., who works exclusively with couples on relationship issues, will explore themes that apply to all relationships, but especially to committed love relationships and marriages. Rod will explain why we “fall in love” and why we end up in a “power struggle” which leaves both partners alienated, stuck and/or resigned and possibly heading toward divorce, affairs or addictions to escape the pain, disappointment and disillusionment. You will gain a broad understanding of how relationship agendas are scripted, as well as examine how "being conscious" of these agendas can empower different actions and a loving, intimate relationship.
You are encouraged to attend with your partner; however individuals in a partnership can find this material empowering for instituting change, growth and more intimacy into their relationship. Singles are also welcome. Rod is known for doing dynamic multimedia presentations that are interesting, intellectually stimulating and generate discussion.
304: A Valentine's Day Class: Love beyond hearts and flowers
Thursday, February 14, 2008, 6:00 – 7:30 p.m.
Do something different – and lasting – for Valentine's Day! As a first course to your traditional dinner and chocolate, come to this fun and uplifting class, where you'll learn how to better connect and build an even stronger relationship with your spouse or partner. Discover practical techniques that will help you identify and appreciate the special qualities of your partner and your relationship. In a move to make Valentine's Day a celebration of real love and connection, the Nashville Association of Imago Therapists will lead the Nashville version of a mulit-city Valentine's Day event developed by relationship expert Harville Hendrix, Ph.D.
303: Intimacy: Doing the Work of Repair
March 4, 2008 6:30 - 8:30 p.m.
The Notorious Cherry Bombs have a song entitled “How Can I Kiss the Lips at Night That Have Chewed My Ass Out All Day Long?” and Deana Carter wrote: “Did I Shave My Legs for This?” If anyone can answer those questions, it's Rod Kochtitzky, M.Div., Advanced Clinician in Imago Relationship Therapy and a Fellow of the Association of Pastoral Counselors. Rod will help participants explore and understand what men do that make women critical of them and why women tend to blame men. The key is learning how to repair the hurt and restore intimacy, which can result in renewed joy and passion.
